My Personal Story

I was born and raised in Coventry, in the United Kingdom, where I spent my formative years. I left school with few formal qualifications and began adult life outside the conventional academic pathway. For many years, education was not a central part of my life, as my focus was directed towards work, personal responsibilities, and gaining experience in other areas.

Over time, however, my interests evolved and I developed a growing curiosity about history and the wider world. This renewed interest eventually led me back to education later in life, when I chose to study with The Open University. Balancing study alongside existing commitments, I worked towards a BA (Honours) in History, which I successfully completed. Returning to higher education proved to be a transformative experience, deepening my intellectual engagement and marking a significant turning point in my personal and academic development.

Life’s Challenges

As with many people, my life has included periods of significant challenge alongside progress and achievement. In 2013, while studying for my degree and working full time, I experienced the sudden and devastating loss of my Mum. Her death marked a major turning point in my life and altered my personal circumstances considerably.

Shortly afterwards, my Dad was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. As his condition progressed, I became his sole carer, taking on full responsibility for his day-to-day care and wellbeing. This role continued over several years as his health gradually declined. During this time, I managed his medical needs, appointments, and daily support, alongside my own work and personal commitments.

I remained in this role until the summer of 2019, when complications arising from his condition led to his death. This period spanned much of my adult life and coincided with my academic and professional development, becoming a defining chapter in my personal history. It was this experience that inspired me to go out on my own and to start Tcpetcare.

Introducing Sally & Dotty

My world is ruled (with an iron paw wrapped in velvet) by my two feline overlords, sisters Dotty and Sally. Born in 2019 from the same litter, they arrived just two months before my dad passed away, and promptly appointed themselves guardians of my heart and household. They are a daily source of joy, comfort, and creative inspiration — though they also excel at being gloriously inconvenient. By turns regal and ridiculous, affectionate and exasperating, they flit through my days like mischievous sprites, knocking things over, demanding tribute, and reminding me at every opportunity who the true authority figures are. Life under their reign is chaotic, loving, and never dull… and I wouldn’t dare have it any other way.
